The Six Principles of the Constitution/Government found in the Constitution of the United States are---Popular Sovereignty; Checks and Balances; Federalism; Limited Power of the Government; Separation of Branches; Judicial Review. Popular Sovereignty means the ultimate power rests with the people. Checks and Balances means that no one branch of the government can overpower the other branches of government. Each has a check on the power of the other branches. Federalism is the dividing and sharing of power between state and national governments. Limited power means that the government is restricted by the laws and the Constitution and it has to operate within the framework of the laws and Constitution. Separation of Branches divides the government into the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branch, each with its own powers and duties. Judicial Review gives the Judicial Branch the right to declare laws unconstitutional.

The United States system of governance is divided into three separate branches. The Congress in particular is commonly regarded as the most powerful branch as representative of the sovereign will of the people through is Constitutional powers. Congress can hold investigative hearings and maintain oversight of other branches. They can withhold funding of departments they find contravening their will. Furthermore they can impeach presidents, judges and civil servants as the ultimate form of Congressional review.
Its purpose was to investigate government employees and to dismiss those who were found to be disloyal to the U.S. government.
People support the judicial review system because ideally, it can balance and check the executive and legislative branches of government.

Judicial review
Judicial review is there to ensure that both the executive and legislative branches stay within the limits of their power and don't try to expand it in order to gain additional control over the government. Of course, politics are involved in all parts of government, and it doesn't always ensure that.
The Judicial Branch has the power of Judicial Review. They have the ability to review decisions made by the other two branches of government, and they have to measures to allow or prevent them from occurring.
Marbury v. Madison, (1803) established the right of judicial review, allowing the Supreme Court to review and overturn unconstitutional acts by the legislative and executive branches of government. It further strengthened the idea of the separation of powers by establishing the courts' power to overturn the actions of the legislative and executive branches of government.
examine, inspect, investigate, review
None of the three branches of government have more power than the other two. They do, however, have different responsibilities. The judicial branch has the power to declare a law unconstitutional, for example.
