Nobody - absolutely nobody - "needs" a gun.
People can live quite happily without ever even touching one.
Unless you find yourself in a situation where having a gun would have kept you alive.

You have asked for an opinion. My opinion? Firearms are used to hunt game, and game IS a substantial part of the diet for a number of people in the US and other countries. In a farming community, firearms are also used to shoot predatory animals. Firearms also permit older, weaker, slower people to defend themselves if (when) attacked by other people. I live in a rural community- if I call the police, it may take 45 minutes for the closest police officer to get to my home if they are not already busy.
Well I am nobody and I need a gun, if guns are outlawed only OUTLAWS will have guns.
