What is the pain level of a tongue piercing?

Hi Bethel, If it is done by a professional piercer who is experienced in tongue piercing, the procedure is very fast and can be said to be not that painful as expected or should we say scared! On the other hand, keep in mind that the swelling afterwards can make you feel a bit uncomfortable as it may affect your eating and drinking for a few days. HEALING TIME It is generally 4 to 6 weeks depending on the aftercare. To avoid the infection and control the swelling, try putting small ice cubes on your tongue. Cleaning your piercing four times a day is crucial. It is best to use an antiseptic solution or an aftercare solution. At first, you are pierced with a bigger piercing to compensate for the swelling. To prevent the potential damage to your teeth, after it is healed completely, change it with a smaller one. Try speaking at minimum at least for the first days, avoid hot or fizzy drinks. Bad news for smokers! Keep away during the complete healing time! For more information: mp.fyi

Can you use tetracycline on your hood piercing?

No. Although this is more overly an antibiotic, this is not an appropriate solution to be using on any piercing, let alone one in such a sensitive location. It's not its intended use, and it's just way to heavy duty for aftercare.

Salt water is great for cleansing sores in your mouth (gargling it at least). Can't see why that would be bad for cleansing your tongue piercing. (Just don't swallow! Ouch.)

How can you numb your tongue before piercing?

If you are using the correct type of piercing equipment, you should not have to numb your tongue at all. Numbing the area before piercing could affect the healing process, and leave more opportunity to become infected. It is best to get a piercing done professionally, but if you are piercing at home, be sure to use the right sterile needles and tools. There should be little to no pain, making numbing unnecessary.
