Lahore has a very old academic tradition and numerous schools in the city trace their origins to British colonial times. Aitchison College caters to the educational needs of children from the age of 5 (Class 1) to A'Levels (13th year of enrollment). The school was founded in 1886 by the then Governor of the Punjab Lord Charles Umpherston Aitchison and boasts one of the largest school campuses in the world, spread over 180 acres.
