Best Answer

meters per second

(DrStrong) A velocity is a vector quantity, meaning it has a speed and a direction. So the speed part is expressed as distance divided by time (feet per minute, meters per second, miles per hour, etc) . The direction can be expressed in a number of different ways, e.g., a compass heading, using unit vectors along a given coordinate system, angles from a datum, etc.

Velocity like speed is a measurement of how fast an object is moving. What makes velocity different from speed is that while speed is a scalar unit (Ie 13Kph or 56 Mph), velocity is a vector unit (IE 13Kph [East] or 56Mph [West 56 Degrees South]).

Velocity is the rate of change of position - how fast that changes. If the position is "s", then the velocity can be defined as the derivative of "s" with respect to time, in symbols, ds/dt.
