The refractive index is inversely proportional to the wavelength, so the shorter the wavelength (the higher the frequency, or the more "blue" the light) the higher the refractive index. Conversely, the longer the wavelength (the lower the frequency, or the more "red" the light), the lower the refractive index.

Therefore as wavelength of blue in less the refractive index will be maximum.

Does black hole have the highest refractive index?

No. A black hole does not have a refractive index. The bending of light around a black hole is due to gravity, which is entirely different from refraction.

What is speed of light in more refractive index?

Higher the refractive index, less the speed of light

The ratio of the speed of light in a medium to the speed of light in a vacuum is called its?

It is usually expressed the other way: the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in a medium. In that case, it is called the "index of refraction".

How do you calculate speed of light wave with refractive index?

The speed of light in any medium isspeed of light in vacuum/refractive index of that medium.

How does critical angle depend on color of light?

Critical angle of a medium depends on refractive index of the medium. Different colors of light have different wavelengths have different refractive indices.

What is refractive index?

The refractive index or index of refraction of a substance is a measure of the speed of light in that substance. It is expressed as a ratio of the speed of light in vacuum relative to that in the considered medium.A simple, mathematical description of refractive index is as follows:n = velocity of light in a vacuum / velocity of light in mediumHence, the refractive index of water is 1.33, meaning that light travels 1.33 times as fast in a vacuum as it does in water.

Formula for refractive index in terms of speed of light in vacuum and speed of light in a medium?

Refractive Index= Speed of Light in Vaccum / Speed of Light in the material

What does relative refractive index tells?

The relative refractive index tells the speed of light in a vaccum over the speed of light in medium.

When white light is incident on a prism which one of the resulting color components will have the lowest index of refraction?

Blue bends best. The blue/violet end of the spectrum is bent the most, i.e. has the highest refractive index. Thus the lowest index is for red.

What can you tell us about the refractive index?

"The refractive index is a measure of how much light bends or refracts when it is passed through a certain medium. The higher the numerical value of the refractive index, the more that light suffers from refraction."

What is refracting index of a medium?

Refractive index of the medium is defined as the ratio of the velocity of light in vacuum to that in the medium. No unit for refractive index.

What do you mean by refractive index and what are factor in which it depends?

Refractive index is defined as the ratio of the speed of light in vacuum to the speed of light in given media.
