Anne Boleyn was accused of many things, that most people think she was most likely innocent of. She was sentenced to death for treason. The treason she was accused of was adultery; cuckolding the King was tantamount to a sentence of death. It was widely believed at that time that the King simply wanted to get her out of the way; and this was the most effective. The common people of this time disliked Anne Boleyn profusely at first; she had overthrown a beloved and English-hearted queen. Catherine of Aragon was extra-ordinarily well loved by the coomon people, and they only forgave Anne when she was an innocent on the scaffold, another playtoy of which the King had tired. On the scaffold, she denied adultery, instead citing that the only crime she had committed was that of 'not loving the King as I should have'. It is taken that this meant the temper tantrums that Anne had thrown, accusing the King of another woman, or not loving her, ect, ect. Indeed, Anne was thought never to have loved the King, but to use him to get to her own aims, and the aims of her father, her brothers and her uncle. I sincerely hope that this helps.
