Ferdinand Magellan was born to a wealthy and noble family. At the age of ten, he was a page to the Queen of Portugal. He attended Queen Leonora's School for Pages and developed an interest in cartography, celestial navigation and astronomy early in life.

No, he wanted to prove that the world was round, he was the 2nd person to try and prove it as Christopher Columbus was the 1st. He had 3 ships, one of them broke/fell apart in the sea. He also wanted to find new land and new spices along with money. If he was like Columbus and found new land, the king and queen of Spain would be behind him and take that new land and in return he would get gold or money.
