Jackson pollack. Had all the symptoms of. Bipolar The episodes of depression that lasted weeks . The paranoia the temper and aggressiveness He was as are all bipolar sufferers creative and when trying to achieve something became single minded until he had finished. His paintings speak themselves. Most typically he would have painted his best in an episode and when finished fell into a heap . As not much is known in regards to bipolar back in the 40s. Not much would have been available to help him . So it's only speculation that he was a. Bipolar sufferer .

Does the treatment of those with mental disorders depend on culture?

yes The idea that mental disorders are treatable like any other illness is a relatively modern concept. In the past, people with mental illnesses were marginalized and cut off from society. Some were even used to experiment on. In cultures which the idea of treating mental illnesses is not prominent, they will often simply cut the person out. Also, in religious cultures, mental illnesses can be said to be caused by the devil, so prayer would be used.
