Jesus is not a magician. He is part of the trinity being God, Holy Spirit, and Himself in one. True, He does miracles, but He does not wave around a wand or say magic words. He uses His power, being our God. God can do anything and everything if He wills. There was a man named Simon who Philip (an apostle) saw in Samaria. He did practiced magic, and was called a magician, but lead the people to believe he was somebody great, like Jesus himself. (Acts 8:9-13) He was not using power from God to preform great things. Magic can come from the devil, Satan. He and his demonds can posses people (I know it sounds all si-fi, but its real...and scarry) and give them dark magic to use for evil. There was a man named Elymas who was a magician. He was possesed by a demon, who gave him his magic. (Acts 13:4-12) There are many other stories of demons possesing people and giving them dark magic. There was a servant girl, who follwed the apostles, Paul and Barnabus, around once when they were ministering. Paul drew the demon out in the name of the Lord, and the demon left her. Now, the demon had been giving the girl fortune-telling magic while it possessed her. When the slave girl's masters found out that she could no longer tell fortunes, they were angry because their source of income was gone. (can't sight this story. Somewhere in the middle of Acts.)
Jesus did what He did by the power that He had as our creator. The reason His apostles could heal people and cast out demons and other miracles was because they did so in the name of the Lord. Their power came from God for His purpose. See, even demons know the Lord, and sudder (bible verse-can't site it). The demons and the devil know there is a Lord and they want to do things to mess us up so we will distance ourselves form Him. Dark magic is real. Its really scarry, but it is real. Satan uses it to serve him instead of God. He makes us magicians do help him fall other people from God. But Christ is good; His name heals. He is our creator and He wants the best for us, even if it means a punishment here and there, and a tet of faith ever so often. He loves us, and not even Satan and his little henchmen can stop Him or His plans for us.
Yes.
It may be that it's meant to be about Jesus, and his message of love, freedom and tolerance. It's not actually specified that 'the wizard' of the title IS Christ, but it's fairly likely that he is.
No, Gandalf is not Jesus in the Lord of the Rings series. Gandalf is a wizard character created by J.R.R. Tolkien, while Jesus is a central figure in Christianity.
