Yes. We see in Mark's Gospel that Jesus went to his own country, where he could do no mighty works and he was amazed at their unbelief. This occurs at events M and N in the framework, parallel structure that follows. At the end of his mission, Jesus came into Jerusalem, where he was certainly rejected (event M'). On the other hand, Jesus also rejected his own family, saying he has a new family, his followers (event J); but this is matched by event J', where he comforts those who have left their family for Jesus, telling them that they have a new family - all his followers:

A . John explains the coming of Jesus (Mark 1:1-8)

N . The people misunderstand Jesus and he can do no mighty work (6:2-6)

Why people might have opposed Jesus?

The main reason which i see for any such possibility is that in the series of the claims of the Prophecy by Persons from the Abraham's root of Adam , the messenger of God was rejected for he did not satisfy the Holy Book and the belief of the people of that book which was revealed before him . The Jews had their Torah which was changed before Jesus took his birth, so what ever Jesus told against the Torah of that time was rejected and thus his book Bible was also rejected by the Jews . When Jesus found it to be impossible to make any impact on Jews he did miracles and even these were counted as magical tricks. The same is true about the Islamic Prophet Muhammad , as he unconditionally emphasized on believing in submission to one God which he said was the Religious belief of all the prophets before him , he and his message was rejected straight away by the Church as what he said was against divinity of Jesus and Crucification and making him one among Prophets, thus leaving only way out for Christians to support their religious belief by targeting the character of Muhammad and dismissing his works as Jews did for Jesus.
