Paul Blair played for the Yankees from 1977 to the beginning of
the 1979 season. He was released and picked up by the Cincinnati
Reds. The Reds released him at the end of that season. He wound up
back with the Yankees in 1980 but played only 12 games, mainly as a
defensive replacement, before he was again released. Between
1977-1979 his number was 2. In 1980, his number was 27. Bobby
Murcer wore the number 2 in 1980.
