Jack the Ripper was never caught. No one knows who he was.
//Sir William Gull, physician ordinary to the Queen, most certainly was not Jack The Ripper. At the time of the Ripper muders, Dr. Gull was well into his 70's and had just previously suffered a dibiliating stroke that left him partially paralized. He was not a suspect at the time of the murders and to think that he committed these crimes is ridiculous.//

∙ 12y agoDuring the time of the Ripper murders, there were no actual theories presented linking Prince Albert to the crimes but he was a suspect.
//In most high-profile murder cases, rumors and conspiracy theories are abundant. Prince Albert was a victim of these rumors and ridiculous theories. The Prince was not even available* for at least three of the murders. He was never a serious or even likely suspect.
*The Prince was out of country at the time of at least three of the murders.

Did people think that Jack the Ripper was related to the royal family?
Not seriously. Somebody sold a lot of books by claiming that the Ripper was the Duke of Clarence, elder son of the future King Edward VII. This has been disproved, as he had a confirmed alibi for three of the four nights on which the murders took place. Someone else claimed that the same Duke had fathered an illegitimate daughter by a Roman Catholic shopgirl, and that a group of Whitechapel street-women had heard about it, and were trying to blackmail the Royal family. This story has also been totally discredited.
