∙ 12y agoNo. Sirius Black is innocent. However, the Ministry of Magic thought he led Voldemort to the Potter's the night Lily and James were killed, but it was actually Peter Pettigrew. So, they sent Black to Azkaban, thinking he was guilty (because everyone thought Pettigrew had died). Black escapes from Azkaban in Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban because he wants to find Pettigrew and kill him for what he had done.
So, no, Sirius Black was never actually a criminal.
