Yes! Gold can be found in the glacial drift regions of NE Kansas (check Kansas goeological survey maps). It was likely brought here by advancing glaciers (1.8 million-10,000 yrs ago). The gold is mostly what people would consider flour gold, although some sizable flakes can be found. I frequently work my creek for gold and although I don't find large quantities, it is found regularly and keeps my interest up. What I have been finding are not pyrites or mica, but gold and tests as such.
