**People: Historian says da Vinci used man as main model for 'Mona Lisa By:Steve
My times
An Italian researcher says he has determined who the main model was for Leonardo da vinci's "Mona Lisa" painting and -- doncha know? -- it was a guy is a man.SO MONA LISA IS A MAN
Yes, The Mona Lisa is a guy.
There are some possibilities as to who the sitter could be; including a lover to Giuliano de Medici or Isabella D'Este, the Marchesa of Mantua. There are problems with both theories. First, Giuliano de Medici died in 1478 and the Mona Lisa was painted between 1503-1506. Secondly, Isabela D'Este really wanted to be painted by Leonardo and there is a drawing of her done by Leonardo but nothing else. (If you actually see a color portrait of Isabella, you'll noticed that she does not look like the Mona Lisa. For one thing, she was blond with fair skin).
The third theory and the one that is recognized by scholars is that this is the portrait of the wife of a cloth merchant called Lisa del Giocondo, Monna Lisa (Madonna Lisa). Leonardo da Vinci left all paintings (including the Mona Lisa) in his possession to Salai, his apprentice (although some may argue that Salai was his lover). On Salai's will is stated plainly and clearly including a brief description of what the portrait looks like, that the masterful portrait of the Florentine woman is identified as Lisa del Giocondo.
Giocondo in Italian means Jocund or, merry, happy. The fact that Mona Lisa is smiling is supposed to be a play on words in regards to her name.
yes shes a man its on my bottle cap...
no, she is not
Male
no
There are many famous paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci. The most Famous two would have to be the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. :P Definitely the mona lisa. I would also say the last supper.
Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, and Virgin of the Rocks are all representative of Leonardo's great insights and inventions in art. If The Mona Lisa is not his most famous work, then the sketch called, "Etruscan Man" is.
A Florentine lady, probably Lisa Gherardini.
"Mona Lisa", "Virgin of the Rocks", "Lady with Ermine", "Last Supper", etc. Leonardo da Vinci painted many paintings. His two most famous ones are the Mona Lisa (in the Louvre in Paris) and the Last Supper (in Italy).
The Mona Lisa & The Last Supper :)
the last supper and The Vitruvian Man
