Population growth could be argued to be a cause of the American Revolution. The Proclamation of 1763 restricted colonists to go west of the Appalachian Mountains, this is because if America was to grow any larger, mercantalism would be harder to enforce. This upset colonists, and could be a reason why they wanted to cut their connection to Britain
