Is this regarding the Cold War? You should note that the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 between the U.S. vs. Russia and Cuba because of the U.S's Jupiter IRBMs in Turkey. Russia threatened to launch missiles they had in Cuba at the U.S. had they not removed the IRBMs from Turkey.

Was the Platt Amendment a good thing?

this is just a short view as my time is restricted. The Platt Amendment was not necessarily a good thing as it gave Cuba little or no independence. At the end of the Spanish- American War The United States insisted that Cuba include the Platt Amendment in their constitution or Cuba would not obtain control over their country. Keep in mind a treaty was signed giving Cuba complete independence from Spain. Cuba basically switched masters. These set of rules guidelines not only limited but tightly constricted "independent" Cuba. Cuban nationals were utterly against it. I think that no good came out of this amendment as it was later terminated due to the negativity it was drawing on the US and Cuban relationship. Cuba was basically a territory of the US as they made certain that Cuba could only have an relationship with them and no other mother country as it would pose a threat not on Cuba but on the US. They were completely selfish and inconsiderate as Cuba's economy could of grown out of the pockets of the US and come back to the rightful owner, Cuba.
