I just finished reading Ineritance, in the acknowledgements cp says that he does not intend to leave Alagaesia forever. He does not know when however(hopefully soon!) cp also doesnt say if he will use the same time period and cast of characters, although in reading the acknowledgments is sounds like he plans to use them again.
No, Eragon does not die in the 4th book. However, he leaves Alagaesia forever and never returns, as Angela the herbalist told him in the first book in Teirm.well no galbitorix dies because eragon defetes him.Then eragon leaves in a wooden box.
