Slave life in ancient Egypt, was contradictory. Many slaves in ancient Egypt performed the role of servants in the house of the wealthy. They were usually fairly treated, adequately clothed and well fed. Remember there were no modern labour saving devices. Every household job had to be done by hand. It was hard graft.
Some slaves served as mercenaries in the army.
Those who were less fortunate were forced to do humiliating, degrading and often dangerous work such as working on the land, digging canals, building monuments, quarrying and worst of all working in the mines. They were at the mercy of tough overseers. Food was pretty basic and they usually went naked.
Slaves were ranked at the bottom of Egyptian society. Slaves, like peasants, worked very hard. The more fortunate slaves worked in the homes of the rich. Household slaves were usually fairly treated, adequately fed and clothed.
Other less fortunate slaves worked as labourers. They often were often naked and endured harsh treatment at the hands of their overseers.
As the Egyptian empire grew thousands of captives were brought back to Egypt to work as slaves. The pharaoh decided where the slaves would work. Educated and skilled slaves worked in the palace or for one of the temples. They often ran government offices, created artifacts for the palace or temple. Some slaves were trusted enough to help collect taxes or act as advisors to the king. These slaves were well treated, being allowed to own land and own slaves themselves. Other slaves worked in the houses of the nobles serving the family, cooking, cleaning, sewing clothes, weaving and making beer. Some slaves worked in the fields. Life for these slaves was tough but they were generally well fed and adequately clothed. Many thousands of male slaves were sent to build the massive monuments and temples, work in the quarries or mines. They toiled naked under the blazing Egyptian sun at what was very hard and dangerous work.
Israelites were slaves in Egypt for a long period of time. But under the guidance of God through Moses, they were able to come out of the slavery and moved towards Canaan.

Slavery was in every country in Ancient times. It actually wasn't very big in Ancient Egypt. It was partly a symbolic thing. After invading a country, you would take a few of the people back to your country. This showed how you had truly conquered the country. Most slaves worked like servants in rich households, including that of the pharaoh. They were allowed to marry and have children. They could be freed by their owners.
Slaves were usually fed on a diet of bread and onions
Because they had thousands of peasant farmers to do the work when the Nile flooded and no work was possible on the land.
Slaves in ancient Egypt got paid with bread and beer. Proper beer not the fizzy "lager" you often get in pubs these days.
