Being able to work without a calculator will give you a deeper understanding of maths and arithmetic, and the methods (either using your brain or on paper) used to reach a correct answer. A calculator won't show you how to work the calculation, but will give an answer at the touch of a button or two. It is best to learn without a calculator first, before relying on a calculator.
The only way, without a calculator, that I know of is long division.
How can you calculate the square root of 1.8E-5 without a calculator?
No. However, alike anything else in life. If you use a calculator for everything, then the most remedial calculations may become hard to do without a calculator. It is good practise to do without a calculator where possible

You use the square root key on a calculator, or the sqrt() function in Excel. If you want to do it without a calculator, there are several methods; one that is fairly straightforward is trial and error: just try squaring different numbers until you get close enough. (Other methods may be faster, but are still iterative - you have to repeat the same steps several times, until you get sufficient precision.)
There are plenty of ways to get answers without images. You can read for your answers or listen to audiotapes for example.
