In the King James version, in Psalms 99:5,9. Also, in Proverbs 4:8. These verses don't actually start with the letter x, but the reference to the letter is used in the words "except" and "exhault".

There are no verses that begin with X to my knowledge, although depending on the translation these verses come close:

  • King Xerxes (or Xerxes, or Xerxes the King) asked Queen Esther, "Who is he? Where is he-the man who has dared to do such a thing?" [Esther 7:5]
  • King Xerxes (or Xerxes, or Xerxes the King) replied to Queen Esther and to Mordecai the Jew, "Because Haman attacked the Jews, I have given his estate to Esther, and they have impaled him on the pole he set up [Esther 8:7]
  • King Xerxes (or Xerxes, or Xerxes the King) imposed tribute throughout the empire, to its distant shores. [Esther 10:1]

None in the King James Version, however, in the New International Version, the Books of Ezra, Esther, and Daniel mention 'Xerxes.'
