If you have an AM3+ CPU like for example an FX-8150 or an FX-6100, a Phenom X4 or even an AMD Athlon II X2, you have to use an AM3+ socket, or in the case of the Athlon II X2, or X3, or X4, or the Phenom family of CPU's you can use AM3+'s predecessor: the AM3, as well as the AM3+. However, the 939 is a much older socket which is not compatible with most modern day AMD CPU's.
