The Tanach, the Jewish Bible, and the Holy Bible calls the geographically modern land of Israel "the land of milk and honey".
In the book of Exodus the land that is referred as the "land of milk and honey" is the land Canaan. It is the land promised to the Hebrew's, Abraham's children.
It is the Biblical place where the Israelites arrive after their journey through the wilderness led by Moses after leaving slavery in Egypt.
It was called this because it was the land promised by God to the Israelites, after their exodus from Egypt. The phrase, speaking of goat's milk and date honey, occurs fifteen times in the Torah, and another five times in the Prophets. It refers to the exceptional fruitfulness of the Holy Land.
