Similarities between the emu and the kangaroo:

  • Both kangaroos and emus are warm blooded vertebrates (like all mammals and birds)
  • Both are native to Australia
  • Both are farmed commercially
  • They both feature on the Australian coat-of-arms because neither creature is believed to be able to take a backward step. For this reason they are seen as symbols of progression and advancement.

The both have feathers, and they are both Flightless Birds.

The eggs are also incubated by the father bird, rather than the mother.
