Will a 3.3 GPA get you into Cal Poly?

Most likely it will, if your an out of state student you have a better chance,espcially if you are in the top third of your class, also it all depends on which major you choose to apply for. some are very hard to get into and other are relatively easy, espcially compared to other schools, engineering and vet or vet tech are very competive so in those you probably wouldn't.

Purdue's middle applicant range generally consists of students with 3.5 and above. Your GPA is not absolutely excluding you from acceptance but it certainly will require other areas of your application to be stronger. A SAT well over 1600, a strong essay, and a well rounded resume could very well see you into Purdue's admit pile.

Okay yes you can get into Purdue with those scores. I am a purdue alumnae and I had a 3.6 GPA and a 24ACT when I was in high school and got into the college of engineering. However once you get in the college many students don't make it past their first year, and if they do their GPA has suffered significantly and in the long run the better your GPA is the better your chances of getting a competitive job. You may want to consider starting off in Management (you can also minor in industrial engineering while in management and this school has lower entrance requirements) and then do what is called a co-do (switching into engineering) after your first semester or call the school and talk to admissions. If you look at the collegeboard statistics for Purdue, this is what they show for GPA:

• 35% had h.s. GPA of 3.75 and higher
• 23% had h.s. GPA between 3.5 and 3.74
• 14% had h.s. GPA between 3.25 and 3.49
• 18% had h.s. GPA between 3.0 and 3.24
• 9% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99
• 1% had h.s. GPA between 2.0 and 2.49

Usually a school will not specify a GPA needed for acceptance in to a program. But based on the statistics, you will most likely need to get a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

That's a tough question, in all honesty. To give you an honest answer about your odds for undergraduate admission, I'd have to ask a number of questions:

• Your 3.4 GPA, is this weighted or unweighted? And on which GPA scale?
• Which classes have you taken in high school? Have you take the most demanding that were available in you school?
• What is your grade trend? All 3.4's are not created equal, after all.
• • Are your grades even throughout?
  • Are your math and science grades stronger? And your humanities and foreign language weaker? Or is it the converse?
  • Are your grades on an upward or downward trend?
• Have you taken Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Advanced class in one of these areas (ideally Chemistry or Physics)?
• Have you taken Math through Calculus?
• And, even if you have done all of this by the end of your junior year, have you continued to challenge yourself as a senior?

Outside of grades, there are a number of other factors that will come into play, especially as Purdue is a public university whose mission is to, in part, serve the people of Indiana. Is there a possibility that you could be a competitive candidate for admission? Yes. But, I'd need to know a lot more information before I could assess that.

From my research, I believe the average applicant would need a GPA of at least 3.2 and an SAT score of 1200, but things like extracurriculars and other activities may affect this.

I got it from a junior college with a 3.3. If you're in high school you have less of a chance, especially if your major is engineering or architecture
