AnswerThough a state or federal issued photo I.D. is desirable, you can fly without it. Tell the airline at check in you don't have your I.D. and require screening. They will give you a boarding pass with "SSSS" on it. When you get to the screening line they will usually make a phone call to check your name to see if you are on a watch list. Then they will go through your stuff and pat you down. It all usually takes an extra 5 minutes. I have done this 4 times.
