The Model T was the car that made Henry Ford. It was no great technological leap over the competition, but the way it was produced revolutionised the industry. Essentially, Ford created a system where the parts were delivered to the production line 'just in time', and each worker then put that part onto the car before an identical part arrived in front of him for the next vehicle to pass by on the line.

This proved to be far more effiecient, meant that cars were produced in far greater numbers for the man hours involved, and thus became cheaper to produce pert unit. The car price came down, and 20 years later, it was estimated that nearly one quarter of all cars on the road were Model T's or a derivative.
