You can play Pokemon red on the original Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, Nintendo 64 (with Pokemon Stadium, you need the special adaptor that you plug into the control to plug the game into), and the Nintendo Gamecube (with the additional Gameboy Advance player that plugs into the bottom of the system that is used to play Gameboy Advance games).
You put in both of your games in your ds and go to the migration park.
You can complete the pokedex on Pokemon Blue version by trading with you friend who has Pokemon Red version. Or you could do what I do and get two gameboy color's and multiple Pokemon games because none of my friends play Pokemon anyomore; even though it is one of the best games of all time =).
Gameboy Color games are not compatible with Nintendo DS or DS Lites.
Nope, there is no way to trade or transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Gold over to Pokémon HeartGold. The DS games are not compatible with the original Gameboy and Gameboy Color games.
