All I know is that the story and the beginning came from France. Hence the name, "Belle" or "Gaston" (if I spelled it right.) which are both french names. Just a little personal note, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite one of my two favorite Disney classics, Belle is my favorite princess. (Of course, my other favorite is the Lion King. :)
He wanted to see the sunset like he did on Skull Island. That's why they said "It was beauty who killed the beast.", and also because of Ann. He thought she was as beautiful as the sunset. But honestly, it was the airplanes that killed him. He would have not died if the airplanes didn't shoot him. He wasn't even looking to kill anyone. This is where the phrase "Don't judge a book by it's cover." comes in, but in this case, it's "Don't judge a book by it's size." They thought because of his size, he would be bad and kill people. Guy only said "It was beauty who killed the beast." as a cover for the airplanes that really killed King Kong.
