Two adaptations:

  • Starfish live in water, so they have a water vascular system for respiration, exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide.
  • Starfish's bodies are radial symmetric, so if they are cut in half, two starfish are made instead of just one.

when a starfish washes up on the seashore it will not quickly scramble to the ocean. it will use very slow movements so anything that will like to eat it like a seagull will think it is dead and has been dead.

Their suctions on the body help stick on to a rock so they don't get pushed away, they cant really be seen so there are less predators around, and the small ones can hide very easily also.

What is difference between field and seashore habitat?

At the seashore it is more airy than the field community because the seashore receives the breeze from the sea and the extra air from the surroundings. Shellfish such as oysters, starfish, mussels and seashells are found on the seashore but it is not found in the field. Similarly animals such as slugs, ants and beetle can be seen in the field but they are rarely seen on the seashore. On the seashore plants such as coconut trees, marram grass and palm trees can be found but rarely in the field. in the field trees such as almond trees and rain trees can be found . The seashore soil is sandy and muddy but the soil is fertile in the field.
