You can start weaning the pups with watered down puppy food (gruel) as early as 3-3 1/2 weeks. This can take a couple weeks then start slowly adding less water to make it more firm. They should be able to start with small kibble by 5-6 weeks old. Make sure its a high quality puppy food.

∙ 11y agoYou can start your puppy as young as 3 weeks on soaked mushy dry puppy food. You soak it until soft & mushy with some canned milk (diluted one part water to one part canned milk). Never feed regular cow's milk to your puppy as can cause diarrhea. Then at around 4 weeks, soak with warm water until soft then from 5 weeks on, can feed the puppy food dry. Always use a good name brand dry puppy food such as Natural Choice Puppy Food, Innova, Canidae, etc. Don't feed a cheap generic store brand.
