At just about any age you like The departments that look after these things here are dismal and it is not unusual to see homeless children wandering city streets.
However, this does not mean they have left home legally. Parents are still liable for truancy charges, if their children are picked up - which they very rarely are. In most states, children up to the age of sixteen are required to remain in school.
In NSW It is legal to leave school at the age of 15. Also, if there are issues that require you to leave school before that you can talk to your school principal or take the issue up with the Board Of Studies.
That is a state issue, it ranges from 15-17 and in alot of cases require the child to be undertaking formal job training if they want to drop out at a certain age.
