Although I am a stickler to the youngn's to wait till they get older to get pierced, I pierced my septum by myself at the age of 13 with a sewing needle after having done extensive research on the anatomy of the nose, the procedure, etc., so I at least entered into it from a learned standpoint, and insured that I was doing it in the most hygienic way that I could, and now at 27 years of age my septum is now stretched to a 1/2". I mainly did it due to the fact that the piercing "spoke" to me I suppose. I found it to be something that I could not live without, and have never regretted doing it.
