How tall is Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist?

Edward Elric is exactly 4'11"; both Arakawa San and Vic Mignogna said so. He isn't 5'0 like some people think. There is even a video on YouTube where he says this.

According to Edward, he measures exactly five foot six. However, he includes his platform boots and his antenne in the measurment, so it's likely that he's somewhere between five feet and five foot four at the absolute most.

At the time the events of the series are taking place (not counting flashbacks), he starts out at fifteen, and he's sixteen by the time it ends; two years go by, so he's 18 in the film and in fact states his age at one point during the movie.

This is not based on a current time-frame, as FMA takes place in the past, but if it were, Ed would be turning twenty three this year (I estimate sometime around June or July).

The story takes over a length of time. When he joins the military he's 12, and later in the story it's mentioned he's almost 16.

In the back of one of the books, the author mentions that she hasn't decided on birthdates for the characters, because she doesn't want to "limit herself". The only thing she has decided is that Edward's birthday is sometime during winter, since in one of the mangas Winry mentions he's "almost 16" and the story is headed towards winter.

But where she lives, winter can last up to 4 months.
He's fifteen at the start of the manga and turns sixteen early on in it (when Ling first appears and the characters find out that he is fifteen, but still taller than Ed, Winry makes a comment about Edward being 'nearly sixteen' to make fun of his height). At the end he is either still sixteen or possibly seventeen. We aren't given a definite idea of how much time has passed since turning sixteen.

No one knows how old Ed is, not even the creator! She never thought of it. She did confirm, however, that his birthday is in the Winter.

Actually, in the first anime and in the manga (I'm not sure about Brotherhood) it is mentioned that Ed is 15 and Al is 14 in the beginning of the series.

Since Winry and Ed was born in the same year (1899) through out the series they should be 15 years old (except for the flashback to their childhoods). Nearing the end of the series she could be 16 years old already.

At the beginning of the series, he's about 15, though he became a state alchemist at the age of 12. Towards the end, with the Promised Day, he's probably about 16, and then (I think) the last episode takes place a couple years later, making him around the age of 18.
