School uniforms are often disliked by kids and loved by schools and parents alike. A uniform means that every student announces that they are a member of a school. It instills a sense of pride. Uniforms often mean better behavior outside the school gates. Knowing that identification is so much easier because of the uniform is a good incentive to keep out of trouble. The uniform stops fashion competition between students. There is no pressure to have certain designer names on display. Preparing for school each morning is easier without the need to choose clothes that are different to yesterday's outfit, different to friends but not so different that it will look unusual. Clothing costs are reduced. A single clothing style reduces the amount of clothes needed for each school year. A uniform will be appropriate for the use it will have. Without the fashion accessories and details, the uniform will generally last longer than fashion clothing. School dress codes are far easier to enforce. Either a child is wearing uniform or isn't wearing uniform. "Revealing" or "suggestive" clothes cannot be worn if all students are expected to wear a uniform. The lack of a fashion parade every day means that there is just one less distraction from studying. Finally, and reason number ten - Wearing a uniform instills an acceptance of discipline and respect for the school by the students. It is a discipline that carries on to adult life and is one of the life lessons that schools are able to give to their students.
