Harry was a wizard; Gilgamesh was considered part human, part god. Gilgamesh was a king, while Harry wasn't. Harry lived in the nineteenth century, while Gilgamesh lived thousands of years ago.

- The setting - Harry Potter starts in 1991 in Britain. Percy Jackson starts in 2010 in America.
- Percy Jackson is based on mythological gods, Harry Potter is based on magic.
- Harry Potter is an orphan, both of Percy Jackson's parents are alive.
