First Percy gets taken to Half-Blood Camp by his protector. Then he receives his quest to return the Lightning Bolt back to Hades because he is blaming Percy and his dad, Poseidon ( god of water), that they stoles it. He must go to the underworld and get it in 10 days before the Winter Solstice. But Hades puts out monsters to try and kill him because his dad broke the treaty of not having children. Hades is the god of Air so Percy cannot take an airplane to L.A. in Cali. So he faces many obstacles, solve the riddle of the Oracle, and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods.

BECAUSE THE LIGHTNING THIEF IS AWESOME WITH ELECTRIFYING MOMENTS AND SHOCKING MOMENTS AND ITS A STORY THATS INTERESTING plus, Rick Riordan (author) made every single part of the book interesting and it makes yoou want to read more. The movie lightning thief isn't as good as the book, but it's also ok.
