an example is a heat radiator...it radiates heat which warms the air. the air rises as its heated and cooler air takes its place then being heated by the radiator...this continues until the room is heated and so is a pot is on a stove and the water is boiling and the cold water is at the top and it goes to the bottom

The Earth's core.

They move the hot and colder parts around.

the convection currents will stop

They occur in the upper mantle and the convections come from the inner core but travel to the upper mantle.

How do positions of the hot and cold water affect the speed of convections?

noting it works (in the science meaning; to cause a change) a lot.
