Charolais cattle were once used as a draft breed. Now they are primarily used for beef. They make good show animals because of their ability to carry a good frame, but most Charolais cattle are high-strung and flighty animals than other more docile-tempered breeds like Simmental or Hereford. Charolais have big calves, and mothers give not much milk unlike other beef breeds. The Charolais breed is primarily used as a terminal breed for breeding crossbred calves for the feedlot.

Beef. Limousins are a beef breed, able to produce a good amount of muscle on their bone structure like Charolais and Simmental. The limmi bulls are very muscular, and the steers tend to be quite muscular as well. Their beef is leaner than the british breed because they are a larger, later maturing breed than british breeds like Angus, Hereford or Shorthorn.
