Bach was born into a very musical family of ten, including himself and his parents, in Eisenach, Saxe-Eisenach which is northern Protestant part of Germany. He was born on the 21 March, 1685. His family taught him to play the violin, the harpischord, viola and organ.

He married two women in his lifetime : Anna and Maria. He first married Maria on 7 July 1720,who gave birth to his first seven children but then she suddenly died. Then he married Anna on the 3rd of December 1721. She was the mother of thirteen children plus the seven from Maria however only six survived until adulthood.
On the 28th of July 1749, he died at the age of sixty-five.
