How many children can you babysit without a license in Oklahoma?

There is no law in Oklahoma on the age for babysitters. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, babysitting is one of the few jobs that teens under the age of 14 may legally accept.

Although certification is not required under the Oklahoma babysitting laws, many teens chose to take a babysitter training class offered by the American Red Cross.

If they are not related to you, you have to be licensed before you can watch any children. I was a daycare assistant in my mothers daycare home for 7 years and that's what licensing told her when she opened.

I don't get the maturity thing. Girls can fake maturity and it in fact has no relationship how they will perform in a life or death situation. Having a parent or neighbor nearby is not the same thing, children can and do die in an instant if the right care is not utilized immediately. anyone under the age of 16 needs to understand how serious things can get out of hand and how quickly they can get out of hand. Only experience and growing up can do that . I would agree some 14 year olds are quite capable, but putting your trust in a child to care for your child is ludicrous. Who can stand loosing a child because someone simply did not have the capacity to know what to do. Not I.
