i believe they went far beyond anything anyone could ever explain. not just a writer, but a pen in his hand became a paintbrush, a musical instrument, something beyond our scope of humanity. Thats Deep.... Very deep
After nearly 400 years, William Shakespeare remains the greatest writer in all of human history. Why? Because his work addresses the human condition in a way that is unparalleled. His characters are complex human beings who leap out of the printed page and into our imaginations as flesh and blood people. We laugh with them, and mourn their tragic demises. His sonnets say everything we want to say, but in ways we never can. Finally, there is the beauty of his language and the depth of his perceptions. They, too, are unparalleled.
Consider his Sonnet 73 as just one example of his greatness. (I am enclosing the full text below). In this melancholy poem, Shakespeare compares his life with the passing of a year. Since he is aging, he is now in his late autumn. As you read his description of nature's decline in winter, you must keep in mind that he is talking about himself. But then, in the last two lines, Shakespeare gives a new meaning to the problem of growing old and dying. It doesn't make life hopeless. It actually makes life more precious. We must "love those things (life, the world, ourselves, etc) which we must leave before long."
He had a talent for writing and acting, and was very popular and widely published. His achievements after his death are probably more extensive than in his life though, because his works are some of the most popular in the world, and have stood the test of time.
