True Tamagotchis have been out for a long time... there is V3 the first online tamagotchi, then V4, V4.5(Rare), v5, V5.5, music star(v6), world tour(6.5), and tamatown tama-go. There are many applications on this game, there is the info(age weight hungry happy skills dicipline etc.) , games, shop, food, mail, light, time, connect, and prizes. ∙ 12y agoA tamagotchi is a small handheld virtual toy that comes in different versions. They are virtual pets that evolve and grow, and you can take care of them and play with them. They go through generations. I have two right now, one on its third generation and the other on its first. They are fun to take care of. ∙ 13y agoIt means egg watch in japanese. I looked it up on wikipedia.org. The tamagotchi is shaped like an egg and you watch over it. There is a tamagotchi 1,2,3,4,4.5, and 5. A v6 has not been released yet.
EDIT:
The name is believed to come from the Japanese word "tamago" meaning "egg", and ''gatchi" meaning "friend". so it basiclly means friendly or lovable egg.
