Some igneous rocks float (pumice) because of a large number of trapped air bubbles. Some form beneath the ground (granite) and some form above ground (basalt). Some may have a coarse texture, some have a fine texture. This is a factor of the amount of time of cooling. The youngest rocks on earth are igneous, having formed upon solidification of molten material. Exposed igneous rocks eventually provide material for sedimentary rocks. The sarcophagi and burial chambers in the great pyramids are composed of igneous rock because of their strength and beauty.

Surface sediments take millions of years to compress into rocks.

Heat within the earth can make metaphoric rocks as the liquidy material cools.

Sandstone is where you'd find most fossils which form as rock compresses. It also has the easiest erosion.

All rocks on earth's surface erode. Wind and water are the 2 most common forces of erosion.

A tiny crack in a rock is enough to split it.

Rains can cause huge boulders to slide from hillsides.

“Rocks never change because they made of really hard materials“

”Only surface rocks change because they are exposed to sunlight and things running over them”

”Rocks are constantly changing by erosion, pressure, and melting”

”Rocks can only change when they are in a volcano and melted”

Rocks are bigger and have more mass than pebbles. Rocks have a tendency to stay where they are unless an outside force acts on them. The previous is true because of inertia.
