Atrioventricular valves ar the valves in the heart that lie between the atria and the ventricles. These valves stop the the blood from flowing back (in the wtong direction) from the ventricles into the atria. There are two atrioventricular valves, on the right is the Tricuspis and on the left is the Bicuspid or Mitral valve.
You have the very big arteries called as aorta, here. Form the right ventricle you have the pulmonary valve to pulmonary aorta. From the left ventricle, you have the aortic valve on way to systemic aorta.
The atria are the upper heart chambers, and the ventricles are the lower heart chambers. The atrioventricular valves are the valves that prevent backflow from the ventricles to the atria.
They are the valves through which blood flows from the atria to the ventricles. Their role is to prevent blood from flowing back to the atrium.
