Why do swans swallow lead pellets and other contaminats whilst other animals spit it out?
There are indeed a few reasons why this may be, but I do know that birds have a crude digestive system, and as you are referring to lead pellets you must be a hunter, as I am myself. Swans probably eat led pellets either thinking they are a source of nutrient or to aid in their digestion, though they lack the brain capacity to tell what is what.
