Only relatively short messages can be sent at any one time
- It's inconvenient to use most phones' keypads to type
- People attempt to send text messages while driving and doing all sorts of things, and some end up hurting themselves or others in the process.
hope this helps
Texting is bad:
Addicted to the vibration (always need to text, takes time away)
According to a recent Pew internet & American Life Project survey, 51% of those polled said it would be very hard to give up their cellphones, up from 38% in 2002.
"When you're having a text conversation and the service drops, it's like your whole world has ended," says Megan Young, a graduate student at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Since phones don't weigh much and fit easily into a pocket or a purse, "the threshold is even easier to cross, and there's no end to it," David Greenfield (a psychologist who is an expert on Internet-related behaviors) says. "You're pretty much hooked in wherever you are, if you want to be."
With more than 1 billion text messages sent each day, it is no surprise that 42% of teens say they can text blindfolded, the study found.
Almost 70% of American users send at least 1 text message every single day.
Steinke says, "I was shocked a kid showed his text bill last year. He had texted over 6,000 times in one month. When you start doing the math, how many times are they texting a day and how many times are they text in an hour? And we're assuming they're not texting in school. So the number of texts that they're cramming into the hours that are outside of school is absolutely amazing."
Unable to talk to the people next to you (virtual friends and an excuse)
A majority (57%) of teens view their cell phone as the key to their social life.
Teens admitted spending nearly an equal amount of time talking as they do texting each month. The feature is so important to them that if texting were no longer an option 47% of teens say their social life would end or be worsened - that's especially so among females (54% vs. 40%).
My biggest concern is that it removes them from potentially intimate relationships in their close proximity--family and friends who are in the same room--and puts them into somewhat superficial relationships with people who are not physically present.
Privacy is taken away (must always text back, etiquette)
There's no excuse anymore for missing a call, e-mail or text message. "If you don't pick up a girl's phone call and you're dating her--my god, expect to buy flowers for her," says Shaun Mehtani, a restaurateur in Morristown, N.J.

antithesis:
80% say their cell phone provides a sense of security while on the go, confirming that the cell phone has become their mobile safety net when needing a ride (79%), getting important information (51%), or just helping out someone in trouble (35%).

What is so bad about texting? Well if you text a lot that means you have an addiction to texting! It can cause you to become detached to your family. If you text in class it can cause your grades to go down. I think you should text to your family and close friends.
The disadvantages of texting include the lack of actual face to face talking. Also, there is no emotion in a text message unless you add a smiley or frown face.
There are no dis-advantages of sms as far as you use for positive aspects. Don't misuse it as it might create some problems for you.
Cons are:
-Don't over text as in ( !!! or ??!!) it get annoying
-Don't be awkward

yes
It started when texting first began. Texting began and people started doing it while driving. It started whenever texting began.
Some of the pros on cell phones is the fact that you can get in touch with someone at all times if you need to. They enable parents and children to stay in touch when they are apart. They are very convenient. Cons on cell phones include that people spend so much time texting, talking, and playing games on their cell phones that they ignore the people around them.
Searching for Texting in the App Store will reveal numerous texting apps.
