What is an example of a standardized tests?

· A standardized test is an exam that is administered and scored in the same way everytime, no matter which student is taking the test. Thus, an answer that's right (or wrong) for one student, would also be correct (or incorrect) for every other student. In the United States, standardized testing became increasingly popular over the course of the 20th century, and is used today to measure students' knowledge in an objective manner, regardless of where and how they were educated. Examples of standardized tests for younger students include statewide assessment testing, such as the EOCs of North Carolina. Examples of standardized tests for older students include the SAT and ACT, which are used primarily for college applications.

What are the disadvantages of standardized testing?

Standardized testing can create stress and anxiety for students, narrow the curriculum to focus on test preparation, and perpetuate achievement gaps among different demographic groups. Additionally, these tests may not accurately measure a student's true abilities or potential.

Should kids have standardize testing?

Yes, to a point. As a teacher I need to know if my students have learned what they have been taught and I need to compare scores from the first of the year to the end of the year. BUT the test needs to be fair and testing the student on what they should know at their grade level. I say this because I gave standardized tests for years and in the testing today the students are getting tested on items that are above grade level. This is not fair to the student or teacher. I had students crying after the first day of testing and they still had 3 more days to go. Measuring students academic progress with other measures is needed and not all students test well. As a child I was one of those students that froze when tested. Education needs to show all levels of learning and testing.
