Water can sometimes sublimate from solid ice to water vapor. Iodine sublimates from a solid to gas form when heated and does not often enter the liquid stage. Arsenic and naphthalene are other substances that are prone to sublimation, and other substances can sublimate in certain unusual circumstances.
